Admission in Architecture Colleges and NATA

National
Aptitude Test in Architecture popularly known as NATA is the single largest
National Level Examination which takes into account the specific field of
study, i.e. Architecture. It is a single scheme of examination for holding
aptitude test so that the meritorious students across the nation can apply for
admission in architecture course offered by the architectural institutions
located across the nation. The actual admissions are being done by the
concerned designated authorities of the respective states/ institutions based
on score of NATA.



If the
reports are to be believed then there are about 385 institutions in India that
offers architectural education which in last leads to recognized degrees. The
standard of education that is being maintained by all the institutions is
looked after by the Council of Architecture. Moreover till date there are
somewhere around 49, 463 Registered architects in India both male and
female. 

NATA all
in all make sure that the eligibility criteria that is required for admission
to five-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree course which has been
prescribed by CoA or Council of Architecture and duly approved by the Central
Government are strictly followed to or not by the Architectural Institutions
located across the nation.

NATA
Exam is being conducted by National Institute of Advanced Studies in
Architecture (NIASA). The score of NATA remains valid for two years. The
students can take the NATA exam any number of times. IITs & NITs do not
accept NATA Score rather NITs offer admission on the basis of JEE Main Paper 2
and IITs on the basis of Architectural Aptitude Test.

The
Scores of NATA are used for admissions by different Government, Govt. Aided
& unaided schools / colleges of Architecture so as to provide common
measure for comparing the qualifications of applicants, for admission in
addition to their scholastic performance in Class 12 or equivalent examination.

There is
no particular specified venue or date to take the
NATA exam. Instead candidates can take the
NATA Exam at any designated centre as per their convenience after filling the
Online Application Form.

Eligibility Criteria

·        
For NATA: 
The minimum qualification to appear in NATA exam is Class 10 or
equivalent examination

·        
For B.Arch Course: 
To seek admission in B.Arch course candidates are required to qualify
the aptitude test in Architecture. Secondly they should have also secured 50%
marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the
subject.
In the
B.Arch course it’s not possible to take direct lateral admission at any stage
based on any qualification likewise engineering

Selection Process

When the
Score cards are made available?  The
Score cards are made available on the official website of NATA in E-Format
after four days.
