Mr.Venkaiah Naidu, the Union minister for Urban Development on Monday said that there is an approval for 10.10 lakh houses for urban poor population under the housing for all scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna in just a span of one year against the 10.30 lakh houses in 9 years by the previous Government under the JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission).
The center has aided Rs 14,955 crore for a total investment of Rs 59,771 crore as per the approval said the Union Minister in his delivery. The new mission ‘housing for all’ has marked significance and has become an example for the nation’s approach to development. The Government’s focus is on promoting the development in urban dwellers’ settlement says Mr.Naidu at the India Habitat – National report which targets the urban development plan for the coming 20 years.
Under the new reliable urban plan for the coming 20 years, the Government focuses on reducing the water and electricity use by 50 percent and also focuses on enabling 60 percent of urban travelling by public transport. It also aims at generating 50 percent power from never depleting sources, promoting walk to work till the last mile, compact and communal living to save spaces, allowing natural drainage growth, waste reduction, eco friendly and green public places etc.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna’s Housing for all will be achieved through the removal of obstructions to the factors of production flow like labor, land and capital, urban and rural areas development in a systematic manner catering to a regional planning approach, spreading togetherness by making sure that the urban services are rendered to all and dependable urban planning. The Government wants to empower the municipalities and to enhance the supervision and governance, treat with separation issues, housing for the urban poor and social equality and gender justice are ensured.
As this is a commendable move from the Central Government which may have strategic results in achieving slum dwellers free urban India, everyone hope that the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna should excel in the expectations from all the segments of the nation.
