type being used in the furniture. Every leather is not same. Leather is of
different types and every leather material has unique properties.

While choosing leather material or leather type, you get
broad range of options including Aniline, Semi-aniline, Aniline plus, Wax-pull-up,
Bicast, and Bonded leather. People choose leather material according to
quality, durability, and their affording capacity. Here we will talk about some
popular leather materials which are being highly used in homes and offices
because of their great features.

Full Grain Leather: Full
grain leather offers a natural looking surface. This is premium quality leather lasting for longtime without wear
and tear. When full grain leather is treated with aniline dyes, feel of the
leather changes entirely. Aniline leather offers you the softest feel. The
drawback of Aniline is it absorbs stains more readily than other leather materials.
Users can find Semi-aniline leather more compatible as it is soft like aniline
and includes a protective covering too.

Top Grain: Top grain leather starts out as a regular hide. Then
the upper layer is separated from the lower layers and is sanded and buffed to
eliminate imperfections. With the top layer removed, the leather has a more
uniform finish.

Aniline Plus: This is another full grain leather treated with matching color aniline dyes. When leather surface is colored with matching pigment, it covers the color variations present naturally over the leather surface. Aniline treatment also makes the leather material resistant against sun and damage.

Wax pull up: Leather is treated with oil and wax to
make it permeable, and resistant to moisture. Wax-pull-up leather has
insignificant fluctuations in pattern and has uniform color tone. The leather
is resistant to scratch and other types of damage. This is a commended leather
material if you want good looking leather furniture for a long time.

Types of Leather:

ANILINE: Also known as Pure minobenzine or Full aminobenzine, this can be the foremost natural style of animal skin. It doesn’t have a protecting coating
nor any treatments that alter the natural feel of the hide.
This gives it the most luxuriously soft feel of all
the leather types, but leaves it susceptible to staining or soiling.

SEMI-ANILINE:  This type is the least natural. Smith Brothers’ protected leather is still Top Grain leather, and dyed
all the way through the hide, but the surface is coated with a heavy protective
topcoat that has color added.
Pigmented animal skin is sometimes buffed (sanded) to get rid of imperfections within the hide so raised witha synthetic grain.
